Thai politeness

Krab (formal) is used for singing, reading and writing but people prefer to say ‘cup or kup’ without the ‘r’ or rolling tongue. This is only for a male speaker. It’s used at the end of a sentence to be polite.

The most common greeting you will hear in Thailand is "swat dee". Following with the polite words (Krab/Kup for a Male speaker or Ka for a female speaker)

Classifiers

Classifying is group thing, people in the same category. In English you just put the number in front of the noun to identify how many they are. Unlike Thai they need to group things or they may be called ‘the counter’ for example the ‘two pairs of pants, sun glasses, jeans’. Pairs are the counter.
